The Interaction of Color in Fair Isle Knitting

Saturday 15 June 2024.

A half day class in the afternoon with Mary Jane Mucklestone.

Class Level: Intermediate, comfortable knitting small diameter pieces in the round. Firm grasp of two-color stranded colorwork.

$195 including GST, Yarn Knit and afternoon tea. Not including needles and notions.

Description:

In this class, we'll each knit a different Fair Isle motif using the same set of six colors. In three hours of swift knitting, we'll comprehend the incredible color variation achieved using the same colors in different arrangements.

A class format is the best way of instantly recognizing that it's the "interaction of color" that makes a successful fair isle garment.

Tarndie will provide a Yarn Kit of 6 colours of our 4ply/Fingering weight non-superwash Polwarth wool. Needles and notions not included in the kit.

Supplies to Bring:

3.25mm (US 3) dpns or your preferred needles for working a small diameter piece in the round; tapestry needle; scissors; stitch markers. Colored pencils and eraser, if desired.

Homework: None
